Boy Scouts III
The Presque Isle Woodturners hosted the Boy Scouts for the third year. This was accomplished on two nights, April 16th and April 23rd. Two nights were decided upon to give the scouts a better experience and to try to make sure each child was at a lathe turning and not having to sit around. As they say the best laid plans of mice and men……, we got thirteen on the 16th and seven on the 23rd. I believe even with the mix up all got their chance to turn. Everybody had a good time and the boys turned weed pots, mini baseball bats, tops, one turned a small bowl and one turned a stand to hold his Indian headdress. Unfortunately the camera was forgotten for the first group and the following pictures are just of the second group. My only wish is that more club members would take advantage of the opportunity to advance the art of woodturning to this degree with these kids, the looks on their faces when they completed their project is very satisfying. |
